2014 FSA ACREAGE REPORTS

If you have finished planting and would like to report your acres, please contact the office to schedule an appointment.  The deadline to timely report these acres is July 15, 2014.

Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) and the Transition Incentive program (TIP) re-opened

CRP Continuous Sign-up

FSA is now accepting continuous CRP offers.  The continuous CRP program is intended to voluntarily retire land in production and/or address resource concerns in environmentally sensitive areas such as wetland, pheasant and duck habitats or other areas.

Producers with approved contracts are eligible for an annual rental payment for 10-15 years and may also qualify for cost-share and signing incentives.  The continuous CRP program is ongoing, and offers are not subject to competitive bidding.

Many continuous CRP offers require wetlands, ponds or streams to meet eligibility.  However, certain grass planting or tree plantings such as field windbreaks or farmstead/livestock shelterbelts do not require wetlands.  For most CRP practices the land must have been cropped 4 out of 6 years from 2008-2013.  Some practices do not require cropping history such as riparian buffers (trees or grass plantings) and marginal pasture land (along bodies of water).  If you have land eligible for the Farmed Wetlands Program, the acreage needs only to be planted or considered planted 3 out of the last 10 years.

If you have any questions regarding CRP or any other program please contact the office.

Transition Incentive Program (TIP)

The TIP Program provides two additional years of payments for retired farmers and ranchers who transition expiring CRP acres to socially disadvantaged, military veteran, or a beginning farmers who will return the land to sustainable grazing or crop production.  The producer who will be taking over the CRP cannot be a family member.  TIP funding increased by more than 30 percent in the 2014 Farm Bill, providing up to $33 million through 2018.

Farm Storage Facility Loans (Grain Storage Loans)

Farm Storage Facility Loans (FSFL) are available at the FSA office for the purchase and installation of eligible grain bins, permanent drying equipment, or the remodeling of existing bins.  Loans are available up to $500,000.  For loans or borrower's total outstanding loans over $100,000 require a real estate mortgage. With the FSFL program a cash flow, balance sheet and one year of tax returns are needed along with construction estimates.  Loans are set up on a fixed interest rate term.  The current interest rate on a 7 year loan is 2.25%, 10 year is 2.625 and 12 year is 2.75.  If you are interested in the program or would like additional information, please contact the office.
