The number one use of this program in Franklin County has been to fence livestock out of streams, install riparin buffer zones, provide livestock crossing and watering facilities. Practices are also available for filter strips on cropped land along streams and rivers. Practices are available to establish waterways in cropped fields. These practices are cost shared at a rate of 50%, but a Practice Incentive Payment is added to cover an additional 40% of the cost. Since these practices are installed on critically sensitive land, there is also a Signup Incentive Payment of $100 per acre per year not to exceed 10 years.
