This information has recently been updated, and is now available.   Making Home Affordable Teams Up with California's Hardest Hit Fund Last week, Making Home Affordable (MHA) hosted two events in the Golden State of California. The events, held in Riverside and Sacramento, provided homeowners an opportunity to explore options for lowering their mortgage payments, learn about alternatives to foreclosure, and gain a better understanding of their eligibility for help through the federal MHA program and California's Keep Your Home California (KYHC). This state program is administered by the California Housing Finance Agency and funded through Treasury's Hardest Hit Fund program. At the events sponsored by U.S. Department of the Treasury, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the HOPE NOW Alliance and NeighborWorks® America, the events gave homeowners a chance to meet face-to-face with some of the nation's largest mortgage servicers and non-profit HUD-approved housing counseling agencies, as well as representatives from KYHC. Hardest Hit Fund representatives, like those from KYHC, regularly participate in MHA's Help for Homeowners events to provide homeowners information about assistance options available to them. In particular, Hardest Hit Fund programs can offer critical relief to homeowners who are unemployed, underemployed or underwater (owe more on their mortgage than their home is worth). This can be especially helpful to MHA homeowners who need additional assistance as well as homeowners not eligible for MHA. "These events are helpful for homeowners because they're often overwhelmed and not certain who they need to talk to. Having all of us together in the same room makes it easier for homeowners to get the information they need to get the best help available," said Di Richardson, California Hardest Hit Fund Director.
