Setting the Record Straight on EPA's Proposed Waters of the US Rule

farmland

There are distorted facts and rumors about what is really included in EPA's Waters of the U.S. proposed rule. The rule keeps intact all Clean Water Act exemptions and exclusions for agriculture that farmers count on. Additionally, EPA worked with USDA's Natural Resource Conservation Service and the Army Corps of Engineers to exempt 56 additional conservation practices. Read the blog post by Acting Assistant Administrator for Water Nancy Stoner, setting the record straight and clarifying the exemptions and exclusions for the agricultural industry here. http://go.usa.gov/9hdG

EPA welcomes input on the proposed rule. The comment period ends October 20, 2014. Learn how to comment on the Waters of the U.S. rule here. http://go.usa.gov/XYZB

As you venture outdoors this weekend, be SunWise and protect yourself from harmful sun exposure. Overexposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun can result in a painful sunburn, and can also lead to more serious health problems, including skin cancer, premature aging, eye damage, and immune system suppression. Children are particularly at risk as the number of skin cancer cases in young people is increasing.

Check out EPA's list of helpful tips that you can use to protect yourself from UV rays herehttp://go.usa.gov/XxYw

Download the free SunWise UV Index app that provides a daily and hourly forecast of the UV radiation levels here. http://go.usa.gov/XaZW
