August 6, 2014: Johns Hopkins Medicine High blood pressure in midlife may spur cognitive decline late A review of data from thousands of Americans in the long-term NHLBI-supported Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities Study (ARIC) suggests that a history of high blood pressure in midlife increases the risk of cognitive decline in old age, according to a report on the study led by Johns Hopkins researchers.
